2003年春夏コレクション “Consumed” を象徴するアーカイブピース。

「Consumed」は、
ラフ・シモンズが消費社会の内部に生きる若者を正面から捉えたコレクションです。
ここで語られているのは反消費ではなく、
“消費する側であると同時に、消費される存在でもある”という現実そのもの。

言葉（RESIST / MEMBERSHIP）やロゴの引用だけでなく、ハーネス、ロープ、ストラップといった構造そのものを通じて、
個人が社会システムに組み込まれていく様子が表現されています。

本作、通称 BONDAGE JACKET は、
その「Consumed」というテーマを最も直接的かつ物理的に可視化したモデルです。

2002AW「Virginia Creeper」で見られたストラップ構造が環境に適応するための“包む装置”であったのに対し、2003SSではそれらは明確に拘束・管理・分断のための構造へと転化。

このジャケットにおいてストラップは装飾ではなく、身体を固定し、制御するためのシステムとして存在しています。オーバーサイズのボディと過剰なディテールは、自由を装いながら管理される消費社会の矛盾をそのまま形にしたもの。

同コレクション内でも、
グラフィックやメッセージ性の強いピースが多く存在する中で、本作は言葉を使わず、構造だけで「Consumed」を語る中心的存在といえます。

“Consumed” is a collection where Raf Simons directly confronted youth existing within consumer society.
What is expressed here is not anti-consumerism, but the reality that we are both consumers and the consumed at the same time.

Beyond the use of words such as RESIST and MEMBERSHIP, and beyond logo references, the collection expresses how individuals become integrated into social systems through structure itself — harnesses, ropes, and straps.

This piece, commonly known as the BONDAGE JACKET, is the model that most physically and directly visualizes the theme of “Consumed.”

The strap structures seen in Virginia Creeper (AW2002) functioned as devices that wrapped the body — tools of adaptation to the environment.
In SS2003, however, these elements transform clearly into structures of restraint, control, and division.

In this jacket, the straps are not decorative; they exist as a system to secure and regulate the body. The oversized body and excessive detailing embody the contradiction of consumer society — the illusion of freedom within systems of control.

Among many graphic-heavy, message-driven pieces in the collection, this work stands as a central presence that speaks of “Consumed” purely through construction, without relying on words.
